Bruce Kevin Clark Even as a devout technologist, I have to wonder if giving all this technology to soldiers in the field, not just at base camps, is ultimately a distraction, analogous to texting while driving in the civilian world? I hope not but I’m sure it’s something the military struggles with every day. Technology vendors take note: any decrease in attention to surrounding caused by technology use must be compensated for by the technology increasing awareness through sensors. Even theft of iPods and iPhones in Chicago is a huge problem, because listeners become unaware of their basic surroundings and become a target.
